This project of twelve luxury apartments is located in the commune of Junglinster on the outskirts of Luxembourg City. The project grew from the name of the street in this unique semi-rural location and creates a restful and comfortable series of homes inspired by the beauty and sweetness of the cérises from which the project takes its name.
The seasonal changes of the cherry trees and their ephemeral beauty became a leading concept in the architectural and spatial design of the project. Rue des Cerises successfully curates the seasonal changes in people’s daily activity just as the seasonal changes of nature are curated in the sakura parks and gardens.
This sense of peace in the admiration of the natural beauty of flowers is present in the two residences’ careful placement of windows which maximize on light and view and connection with the surrounding landscape. The sensitively designed facade allows for maximum experience and connection to beauty outside, and internally facilitates the beauty of daily life. The residence’s proximity to the city center is matched by its semi-rural immediate surroundings which provide residents the peacefulness of country living as well as the opportunities of city life.
